The pruning pile was discussed in full at the June Board meeting. We have come up with the following ideas –
- The Board are currently planning to close the pruning pile at the end of July 2020
- We will be asking residents through Facebook, our website and in the next newsletter for their opinions in writing about the use of the pruning pile. Please send these to Bob Shaw, Secretary of Hamilton Park Board, 16 Kingfisher Lane, or to secretary@hamiltonpark.org.au
- If there is sufficient opinion for the pruning pile, we will be asking those interested residents to form a sub-committee to help oversee the operation of the pruning pile.
- At the annual General Meeting in October 2020 a final decision will be made on the pruning pile. If there is a significant groundswell of opinion for the pruning pile and to assist the Board in implementing the maintenance of this facility then the Board would obviously reconsider its current stance.
- The operation of the pruning pile includes the following –
- Opening and closing the gate every weekend between April and August
- Periodic use of the Park tractor to push up the pruning’s into a regular area to assist with burning
- Monitoring the use of the pruning pile by residents only and monitoring that only green waste is deposited therein
- Obtaining a fire permit from the Wangaratta Council for the burning of the pruning pile
- Liaising with the Glenrowan CFA to co-ordinate a time to burn the pile and
- Co-ordinating the supervision of the burning and aftermath of this large burning activity.
