In the last week or so, the reeds around the middle and top dams have lost their birdsong.
The chirpy little Reed Warblers have headed north after another busy season of nesting and raising their young at Hamilton Park. We expect to hear them warbling in the reeds again during the second half of August.
They are very plain ‘little brown birds’ LBBs but when they are really belting out a tune their little crest rises and the inside of their mouth can be seen – bright orange.
In contrast to this LBB, the first Scarlet Robins have arrived. The males are real stunners, the females a little less intense. The robins are returning from the mountains after spending the summer up in the cooler high country.
Pics all taken in and around Hamilton Park.
